On the Road... again :)

Omar wanted to show me a bit of Mexico's beauty outside of Mexico City and so we hit the road again a fabulous road trip through Oaxaca, Chiapas, Campeche and the Yucatan peninsula. Oaxaca City was our first stop. Day 1 on the new autopista between Puebla and Oaxaca.

Pico de Orizaba from the highway
Catedral de Oaxaca
The pretty zocalo in Oaxaca--live music everynight!

Amy enjoying a Oaxacan speciality, chocolate con leche.

Monte Alban, Zapoteca ruins on a hilltop above Oaxaca City. They starying building here in 500 B.C., most of the ruins here were built later (300 A.D.). The picture above is of the Ball Court which is ¡s found at all of the ruins.

Omar heading down from the highest platform, this is most of the sites (the complex isn't too big), some are just out of the picture to the sides.

The courtyard inside the Museo Regional de Oaxaca. The museum is in an old convent next to the Iglesia de Santo Domingo, the renovation of the building and the gardens was beautiful.

The best tamales we've had! The guidebook recommended them, "find the woman who sets up her stand on Avenida....in front of the pharmacy."
